Pinch, pinch, pinch, pinch, pinch…Living in a hectic world, I try to seek out peace, balance, and simplicity in the small daily details. A meal shared by two friends, the color of a seedling sprouting out of the ground to a warm pot coming out of a kiln.
Pinching a form out of clay allows me the space to appreciate small moments. As I create I become immersed, I pause, I reflect, and then I continue. Over and over I weave in and out of this pattern in working and thinking.
Each piece is created quietly and simply, emphasizing the touch of an artist, a maker, a person, not a machine in a factory. The pinched bare clay references the process in which it was made, emphasizing the connection of the material to the earth.
